Imtiaz Ali is back with a bang! The Bollywood filmmaker, who delivered many iconic films, left the movie buffs impressed with his storytelling prowess in Amar Singh Chamkila. Co-starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, the actors impeccably portrayed the characters of Chamkila and his second wife Amarjot. Well, all throughout the interviews, the actress has been sharing how the director asked her to gain weight for the role as she has to “sort of look your worst in the film.” 

Well, now in an interview Imtiaz Ali opened up about Parineeti’s portrayal of Amarjot and stated that she looked similar to the real-life singer. Elaborating on it he mentions how they have many similarities, however, the 52-year-old filmmaker goes on to mention that the Ishaqzaade actress gained a lot of weight. Quoted by Bollywood Shaadis, he said, “Unki toh shakal bhi milti hai. Singer hai, Punjabi hai, shakal bhi milti hai. Unhone apna kuch wajan badhaya. Saat kilo ya das kilo. Bahut jyada unhone bajan badhaya.” It is to be noted that during the team's appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Imtiaz had heaped praises on Parineeti for dedicating herself to the character, going as far as gaining weight due to the character requirement. ALSO READ: EXCLUSIVE! It is safe to say that the netizens were furious with the 35-year-old actress lying in her interviews and trying to justify her weight gain. One wrote, “She's insulting Amarjot Kaur in every single interview by saying things like, "I look like my worst." For the unversed, the Imtiaz Ali directorial was released on Netflix on 12th April 2024. Co-starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, the movie is a biographical film based on the life of late musician Amar Singh Chamkila, who was brutally killed at a young age because of his thought-provoking songs and lyrics. Fans have been showering the cast and the crew of the movie with love and adoration on social media.
