What! Ranveer Singh-Vaani Kapoor’s Befikre Trailer Cleared With A U/A Certificate Despite 12 Hot Kisses
CBFC Chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani justifies the stand by saying that director Aditya Chopra's aesthetic sense makes the kissing look natural, and not vulgar at all
Take a few minutes and let the thought sink in. CBFC, which in the past has asked filmmakers to mute/delete swear words, chopped ‘bra’ scenes (in Baar Baar Dekho) and shortened the length of smooch scenes (between Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil) has cleared Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor-starrer Befikre’s trailer with a U/A certificate. The flick that hits theatres in December features 12 hot kisses between the lead pair. Yes, believe it.

We wonder if the rules change depending on who is backing the film.
Elaborating on the matter, CBFC Chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani said, “When we are strict with on-screen intimacy, people have a problem, when we let scenes of intimacy remain intact, people have a problem. The images in Befikre are not about the kisses alone. It's about a whole lot of things, about love. The trailer shows kissing as a manifestation of love; it's not there for titillation.”
Nihalani also points out that the kisses in Befikre have been shot rather well. He added, “All the kisses are in long shots. It's only in close-ups that kissing on screen tends to look overblown. There is a difference between showing intimacy discreetly and getting so worked up about it that the camera becomes voyeuristic. As to why the CBFC has chosen to be liberal with the trailer, it's because Aditya Chopra's aesthetic sense makes the kissing look natural, and not vulgar at all.”
