Actress Rashmika Mandanna is currently busy shooting for her upcoming movie Pushpa 2: The Rule where she will be reprising her role of Srivalli. While fans are eagerly waiting for the release of the Allu Arjun starrer, she is also basking in the success of Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial Animal. Her portrayal of Geetanjali and her on-screen chemistry with Ranbir Kapoor was lauded by the masses. Now she has opened up about the scene where she had to slap him and revealed how she felt after it was shot.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Rashmika reminisced about the scene where Geetanjali slaps her husband Ranvijay Singh Balbir after he reveals that he has been cheating on her with Zoya (Triptii Dimri’s character) so that he can get to know about her plans to sabotage him. The 27-year-old actress shared how the entire sequence was shot in one take as there was a lot of moving. She recalled how the director told her to just feel how a person in the situation would feel. Explaining how her mind had gone blank during the shoot and she doesn’t remember anything between the action and the cut, Rashmika stated that once the scene concluded she couldn’t stop crying. Recalling how she was still in the moment after they finished shooting for the scene, she revealed that went up to Ranbir to ask how he was doing. Mandanna further told the entertainment portal, “After the sequence, I was crying for real. I have slapped him, I am screaming, the chaos is happening and I go to Ranbir and I am like, ‘Was that okay? The Goodbye actress added, “We finished that sequence in half a day. I loved it, and at that moment I realised that this is the high of being an actor. People don’t write sequences like this every time. I am so glad that I did this movie and this sequence. I was surprised with myself.”
For the unversed, Animal is considered to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2023. Despite facing criticisms from the audiences and critics for promoting a toxic masculinity mentality, ignorant dialogues, and justifying the actions of the main hero because of his ‘daddy issues’, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial became one of the most discussed topics on the internet. The movie also stars Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Triptii Dimri in pivotal roles.
