Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movies have a special place in the hearts of movie lovers. No matter which movie, people watch and re-watch his masterpieces multiple times. One such gem is Devdas. The Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit starrer is to date loved by many. Touted as one of the best romantic tragedies, the movie follows the incomplete yet everlasting love between Devdas Mukherjee and Parvati “Paro” Chaudhary. However, did you know SRK used to squeeze Aishwarya’s hand during the shoot of the film?
During the promotion of Dear Zindagi, Shah Rukh opened up about the same on Kapil Sharma’s comedy show The Kapil Sharma Show. He spoke about the scene in the movie where Dev and Paro are sitting on the ‘ghar ka jhoola.’ Though the scene was a picture-perfect fairytale scenario, shooting it was very tough. Talking about it, the actor revealed that he was scared of the swings, which led to him holding Aishwarya’s hand very tightly, to the point where it would hurt her. Quoted by Koimoi, the 58-year-old actor told the comedian, “Mere saath jo actress thi mai unka haath noch daalta tha. I was so scared I would hold her tight. Wo jo swing hota hai na, saavan ka jo jhula hota hai na, uspe nahi baitha jata.” He went on to add that shooting of that scene kept going on as the director has to reshoot it. For the unversed, SLB’s Devdas was made on a budget of Rs 44 crore. It earned Rs 99.87 gross worldwide and was declared a hit at the box office. The romantic drama also starred Jackie Shroff, Kirron Kher, Smita Jaykar, and Vijayendra Ghatge in pivotal roles.
On the work front, after his movie Zero (2018) failed to do good business at the box office, the actor took a break. He went on to do cameo roles in movies like Lal Singh Chaddha, Brahmastra, and The Nambi Effect. He returned to the big screens with a bang in 2023 with blockbuster movies like Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. The actor is yet to announce his next project. If reports are to be believed, he will be making a return to YRF’s spy universe with Tiger VS Pathaan and Pathaan 2.
