Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are adored by fans for both their on and off-screen chemistry. They have worked in several films together and have supported each other on different occasions during media interviews. Yes, you read that right! We recalled once in an interview Aishwarya had defended Abhishek when a journalist asked him if he was concerned that his superstar father Amitabh Bachchan and wife Aishwarya could “overshadow” him due to their big stardom.
In 2010, during the promotion of their film 'Raavan', Abhishek was asked by a BBC journalist about the fear of being overshadowed by Big B and the actress. While the Taal actress backed the actor and called the question “unfair,” Abhishek stated ‘no.’ In the joint interview, Aishwarya interrupted Abhishek and stated, “I absolutely despise the term overshadow. I think it’s unfair that this question is posed and imposed on him (Abhishek) at each point in time because that isn’t it at all. Explaining the reason, why she interrupted, the Jodhaa Akbar actress mentioned she could relate to this question. “The reason I have interrupted is because I found myself for the longest time being asked ‘So you have been a model, and you’ve been Miss World, do you find yourself only getting roles where you will be this beautiful woman?’ So it is the same way, it’s this perception that stands larger than the reality and the fact is that we are all doing very good work… I am sorry to interrupt your answer (to Abhishek)… it is the truth and truth must be said,” Aishwarya added.
Interestingly, the Dhoom actor did not get offended by the question as he respectfully said, “No, not at all.”
For the unversed, Aishwarya and Abhishek got married in 2007 in an intimate ceremony and they welcomed their first child, daughter Aaradhya in 2011.
