Over the years, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has earned a huge fan following thanks to his action-hero persona and comedy movies. He has been credited for his dedication towards his movies and his down-to-earth personality despite living a larger-than-life lifestyle. Being one of the few celebrities who never sugarcoated their words during interviews, he had once made shocking revelations about the award ceremonies hosted for Bollywood.

While he has been a recipient of many awards including 2 National Film prizes, 2 Filmfare Awards and a Padma Shri by the Government of India, Akshay opened up about how he was asked to attend a show in half of his fees if he wanted to receive an award. Posted by an Instagram page, he spoke about the same during an old conversation with Anupam Kher. On being asked, why has he never been awarded in Bollywood, the actor went on to recall his experiences. Apart from being asked to attend the show for half of his fees, the 55-year-old also revealed that the awards are given to only those people who attend the shows and not to those who are unavailable, despite being nominated and performing well. As soon as the video surfaced the internet, more than a month ago, netizens have taken to social media to commend Akshay for his honesty. One wrote, “I'm feeling very bad for Akshay Kumar.” Another wrote, “Now people will realise what kangana says is correct of these award functions.” Other one wrote, “Akki dont need award whole Bollywood and indian audience need akshay so akshay has as many awards as his fans.”

On the work front, Akshay Kumar is all set to make his Marathi debut with Mahesh Manjrekar directorial Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat. He will be seen playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He also has movies like The Biopic Of Jaswant Singh Gill and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in his pipeline.
