Amavas, Movie Review: Ama Yaar, Bas!
Rating
Never seen a lady (Anonymous 'coz I don't know her name) who tells her grandson (Sachiin J Joshi) to visit a purani haveli that ruined 8 years of his life. Never seen a girl (Nargis Fakhri) who gets attracted by a broken swing in a picture of that haunted mansion and makes her boyfriend (SJJ) cancel their tickets to Paris. Never seen a boyfriend (SJJ) who touches his ladylove (NF) as if she is suffering from a contagious disease.

Never seen a shrink (Mona Singh) who makes her client's GF (NF) run towards a grave to burn it and runs besides her like a Derby horse. Never seen a psychiatrist (MS) who says that she believes in ghosts and advocates the Om symbol to fight them. Never seen a man (Vivan Bathena) whose sex hormones start gushing on his last day of leaving India to settle in Germany or wherever, for a career. Never seen a caretaker (Ali Asgar) with such nauseating teeth, who has been giving interviews to the media that he has been looking for good work outside TV. Never seen before a woman (NF) who pulls her BF (SJJ) for a holiday but is more interested in playing pakda-pakdi and luka-chuppi when they reach the destination.

Never seen a leading man (SJJ) taking off his shirt and running to burn his chest. Never seen a man (SJJ) kissing his to-be-wife (Navneet Kaur Dhillon) like a PT drill- first smooching the lower lip, then the upper one, followed by the lower one again, and then the upper one again! Never seen a man (VB) who suddenly lies on his best friend's lap after 10 years and ask her to kiss him- and she plants a kiss on his forehead!

Never seen before... so many things that Amavas offers the first of its kind! After all, SJJ had claimed that the purani haveli where they shot is actually haunted.

Never have I gone with ZERO yet (Yeah, I know there's always a first time). Or have I once before in my life? Anyway, I rate this one--- HALF. To be honest, I changed my mind from Zero to Half. Let me justify.  Suddenly I remembered Bhushan Patel's (director) one-and-only dart that he hits bingo. Patel keeps the camera at a very long-n-wide angle when a shirtless SJJ runs at breakneck speed to take a tiger-leap into fire! Ama yaar, bas!
