London Confidential Movie Review: Mouni Roy & Purab Kohli's Spy Thriller Falls Flat

Maybe it would have been better if kept confidential- That's what came to my mind when I watched ZEE5's latest presentation, London Confidential starring Mouni Roy, Purab Kohli and Kulraj Randhawa. The film is directed by Kanwal Sethi.

This spy thriller is based on Indian Intelligence agents, including Mouni aka Uma Kulkarni and Purab aka Arjun Kumar. Now, these agents have to reveal the truth behind a Chinese virus being spread on the borders of India and China. Things go haywire when one of these agents, who has the proof of China being behind the virus, gets kidnapped. That's when Mouni steps in to find the agent and ultimately the proof.

However, the agent is killed by the enemies, making things difficult for Mouni and also suggesting that there is someone amongst them who is leaking the information. The film then moves forward in this chase to find the mole and also save the spread of the virus.

There are very few strong points in the film, barring the performances. Mouni fares decently while Purab and Kulraj also put up a good show. Talk about the loopholes and there are many- from direction to screenplay.

To start with the film's first scene shows the city of London still coping with COVID pandemic, with people walking around with masks and hoardings saying stay home, stay safe. A few scenes down the line and we are shown night clubs, strip clubs, people partying without following any social distancing rules and masks are out of the window.

The dialogues are weak and there is no depth in the scenes. Mouni is shown pregnant but there is no relation of that to the story, it looks like a mere accessory.

Overall, it looks like a clumsy effort to make a story around the current pandemic crisis. I'd go with 2 stars and say it's absolutely blahworthy.
