LOOKING FORWARD: Here Is The Line-Up Of Films We Are Waiting For In 2017

Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor reunite in reel life for this remake of Mani Ratnam’s 2015 Tamil blockbuster OK Kanmani. Helmed by Shaad Ali who has given us hits like Saathiya, this film has already created a buzz thanks to its popular soundtrack and the chemistry between its lead pair. The film releases on January 13.

Raees

The first trailer of Raees released in November and since then fans and film pundits alike have their hopes pinned on this Shah Rukh Khan starrer. The king of romance will be seen playing a charming bootlegger in the film which stars Pakistani actress Mahira Khan as his love interest and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the cop hell-bent on putting SRK behind bars. The film releases onJanuary 25.

Kaabil


Hrithik Roshan's upcoming film Kaabil has already got the attention of the audience, thanks to its ‘hatke’ premise.  It is the story of a blind man who plots revenge on a powerful politician after he harms his wife, played by Yami Gautam. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, this film is all set to release alongside SRK's Raees on January 25.

Jolly LLB 2


This courtroom drama starring Akshay Kumar promises a healthy dose of dark humour and gritty realism. The cast includes acting powerhouses like Annu Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla and the film is helmed by Subhash Kapoor. Huma Quresh plays Akshay's wife. Jolly LLB 2 releases onFebruary 10.

Rangoon


Director Vishal Bhardwaj's name is enough to create a buzz in Bollywood. Then there is the combination of Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor. Add Kangana Ranaut to this equation and you have a talented foursome, worth waiting for. The period drama is slated to release on February 24.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania


Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania released in 2014 and established Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan as bankable stars. And here comes the second instalment. The young jodi reunites for another modern love story and the first look of the film was well received by fans. The film is set to hit theatres on March 10.

Phillauri


2017 will also see Anushka Sharma donning the producer’s hat again. After the success of the gritty thriller NH10, Anushka has picked up a lighter subject this time. Phillauri is a romantic comedy which will see Anushka paired with Punjabi heartthrob Diljit Dosanjh. The film is slated for a March 24 release.

Naam Shabana


The thriller starring Tapsee Pannu is the prequel to the 2015 film Baby. Akshay Kumar will once again be seen as a spy in the film. The movie is scheduled to release on March 31.

Jagga Jasoos


The trailer of Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s Jagga Jasoos delighted the fans who were waiting for the first look of the film. Ranbir and Katrina have split in real life but fans definitely want to see them romance each other on the big screen.  The film directed by Anurag Basu is set to release on April 7.

Chef


Saif Ali Khan steps into Jon Favreau's shoes in the official remake of the hit Hollywood comedy of the same name. Chef is Raja Krishna Menon's next film after Airlift. Saif shot for the film on the streets of Kerala and Punjab and fans are waiting for a taste of this. The film releases on July 14.

Toilet- Ek Prem Katha


Akshay Kumar’s slate for 2017 is full of unconventional topics. This film which also stars Bhumi Pednekar, takes on the tricky topic of toilets and open defecation, and weaves a romance around it. Toilet- Ek Prem Katha releases on June 2.

Tubelight


As always, the Eid slot is booked by Salman Khan. The superstar is teaming up with one of his favourite collaborators, Kabir Khan, for this war drama with a twist. After the superhit Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2015, the duo is returning with Tubelight which will also mark the Indian debut of Chinese actress Zhu Zhu. The film is set to release on June 25.

Secret Superstar


Aamir Khan reunites with his Dangal daughter Zaira Wasim for this quirky drama about a young aspiring singer. Zaira dreams of being a singer but her father cruelly rips apart her guitar as she watches. Then a burqa, Youtube and Aamir come to her rescue. The film releases on August 4.

The Ring


The Shah Rukh Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer does not have an official name yet but this list will be incomplete without it. Interestingly, it was Salman Khan who announced the release date of this Imtiaz Ali love story, which will hit theatres on August 11.

Judwaa 2


The 1997 original became a blockbuster with a double dose of Salman Khan in addition to Karisma Kapoor and Rambha. The sequel will see Varun Dhawan stepping into Salman’s shoes with Jacqueline Fernandez and Tapsee Pannu for company. The film is set to see the light of day on September 29.

Golmaal 4


The fourth film in Rohit Shetty’s hit comedy franchise will hit theatres in 2017, closer to Diwali. The latest addition to the cast is Parineeti Chopra and the regulars including Ajay Devgn and Tusshar Kapoor will return for some funny adventures.

2.0


Touted as the most expensive film ever made, 2.0, stars Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. If that was not enough, we have director Shankar who is known to create fantastic, over-the-top cinema. 2.0 will be a Diwali release and hit theatres on October 19.

Padmavati


2017 will bring us the next offering from the awesome threesome- Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and their favourite director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Add Shahid Kapoor to this trio and what else you want! The film releases on November 17.

Tiger Zinda Hai


Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif reunite for the sequel to the 2012 superhit Ek Tha Tiger. Sultan director Ali Abbas Zafar will helm this film and the combination has made it a much-talked about project. The film is set to release on December 22.

Mom


Her last release English Vinglish (2012) got both critical acclaim and box-office success. In 2017 Sridevi will be back, in and as Mom. Joining her will be Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Akshaye Khanna and Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui.


P.S: The list will be incomplete without including the two much-awaited films starring the skilful Ranbir Kapoor. Both the Sanjay Dutt biopic and Ayan Mukerji'ss Dragon are slated for a 2017 release but they have not gone on floors yet. Whether one of them makes it to the theatres next year or both, we are likely to be in for a treat.
