It’s been a year since the Horsemen won the hearts of the common public with their magic tricks and by bringing the baddies to justice.

J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson) and Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) are now in hiding as FBI agent Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) spends his time saving them from the FBI.

Soon, the trio gets a new mission -- that of exposing corrupt businessman Owen Case (Ben Lamb). Joining them this time is another illusionist, Lula May (Lizzy Caplan).

Now You See Me 2 has a simple, inherent problem – the plot of the film is something we see in every action thriller. A rag-tag group has to procure something from an evil man/organisation at the behest of someone evil.

Then there are some twists following which the truth is revealed and finally, good prevails over evil. End of story. The film stands miles away from its intelligently-written and superbly-performed predecessor.

Even as a stand-alone film, Now You See Me 2  is an action-thriller without any actual thrilling action to speak about.

Also, adding 5 characters to an already bloated cast has deprived the audience of finding an emotional connect with any of them.

Daniel Radcliffe as the somewhat unhinged young man is the only interesting performance, but unfortunately, his is a cameo.

Must say, the dialogues are witty – and Caplan has bagged a major chunk of the punchlines.

In a nutshell, Now You See Me 2 is only for those who want to see the characters in the original once again.
