‘Avengers’ Director Joe Russo Slams Martin Scorsese In Playful Jab Over Marvel Films’ Box Office Success-READ BELOW
‘Avengers: Endgame’ director has grabbed eyeballs after he stirred up a storm on social media for posting a response to a recent TikTok featuring Martin Scorsese. In his response to the video, Russo threw some shade at Scorsese and the failure of “Killers of the Flower Moon” at the box-office.

The controversy sparked after the Oscar-winning director’s daughter Francesca, posted a TikTok this month that featured Scorsese playfully directing his dog, Oscar. Russo responded by posting a video, in which he tells the legendary filmmaker that they share the same muse. The camera pans out to reveal Russo is holding his own dog, whom he jokingly calls “Box Office.” ALSO READ | Hulk Mark Ruffalo Responds To Martin Scorsese’s 'That’s Not Cinema' Comment Regarding Marvel Films

“Aw look, he’s got a schnauzer! I love schnauzers. And his name is Oscar. That’s really cute,” Russo says in his video replying to the Scorsese TikTok. The Gray Man director then addresses his dog: “Ok come on, Box Office.”

The TikTok was a clear swipe at Scorsese’s criticisms of Marvel movies, and a touting of Joe and his brother's Marvel box office smash-hit “Avengers: Endgame”, which was the highest-grossing movie of all-time, having earned $2.8 billion (before “Avatar: The Way of Water” dethroned it).

Russo’s video was satirical, however, it has rubbed many film writers and industry professionals the wrong way, as it seemingly finds Russo jabbing at Scorsese after Scorsese infamously spoke out against Marvel movies several years ago.

For the unversed, Scorsese has criticized Marvel for putting a stronghold on film exhibition and forcing mid-budget movies and more adult-oriented fare out of the mainstream marketplace.
