’King Of The Hill’ Voice Actor Jonathan Joss Fatally Shot Outside His Texas Home': Suspect Arrested

Jonathan Joss, the 59-year-old actor renowned for voicing John Redcorn on the animated series King of the Hill, was tragically shot and killed outside his San Antonio, Texas, home on June 1, 2025. According to the San Antonio Police Department and eyewitness accounts, Joss was involved in a verbal altercation with a neighbor, identified as 37-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez-Cega, when the confrontation escalated. Alvarez-Cega allegedly drew a firearm during the dispute and shot Joss multiple times. Despite officers administering life-saving measures until medics arrived, Joss was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, Alvarez-Cega fled the scene in a vehicle but was apprehended just a block away. He was taken into custody without incident and has since been charged with murder. His bond has been set at $200,000.
Joss's voice became iconic through his portrayal of John Redcorn, a recurring character on King of the Hill from Season 2 through Season 13. He took over the role after the original voice actor, Victor Aaron, passed away in a car accident in 1996. Joss had reportedly already recorded his lines for the upcoming revival of the hit series. Beyond King of the Hill, Joss appeared in several notable television and film projects, including Parks and Recreation, Tulsa King, Ray Donovan, True Grit, and The Magnificent Seven.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and authorities have not yet determined a motive. Joss's untimely death has left fans and colleagues mourning the loss of a talented actor whose work resonated with many.
