Beverly Hills Star Shannen Doherty Reveals Suffering From Stage 4 Breast Cancer On World Cancer Day
Shannen Doherty shared the heartbreaking news that her cancer is back and that she is suffering from stage 4 breast cancer. She revealed that she kept the diagnosis a secret during the filming of the reboot of Beverly Hills, 90210
Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2015 and then went into remission in 2017, has now shared a heartbreaking update about her health. Three years after her announcement of going into remission on her Instagram handle, she shared on ‘Good Morning America’, that her cancer is back and that she is suffering from stage 4 breast cancer. She shared, “It's going to come out in a matter of days or a week that I have stage 4. So my cancer came back and that's why I'm here.”
48-year-old Shannen Doherty also revealed that she kept the diagnosis a secret during the filming of the reboot of Beverly Hills, 90210, and that she had been keeping the news to herself, secretly battling it for more than a year. E Online quoted her as saying, “I don't think that I've processed it. It's a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways. I definitely have days where I say, ‘Why me?' And then I go, ‘Well why not me? Who else? Who else beside me deserves this?' None of us do. I would say that my first reaction is always concern about how am I going to tell my mom, my husband."
Shannen Doherty shared how difficult it was for her to go back to the set after her co-star Luke Perry, passed away in March 2019. She said, “It was so weird for me to be diagnosed and then somebody who was seemingly healthy to go first. It was really shocking and the least I could do to honor him was do that show. I still haven't done enough in my opinion." She further added that life doesn’t end with the diagnosis and there is still some living to do.
