Cannes 2021 has kick-started, after an unfortunate cancellation last year, with the same enthusiastic and glamour as it has been for years now. It was announced in June 2021 that Hollywood actor and filmmaker Jodie Foster would receive the honorary Palme d’or at the film festival. We now have a special picture of this special moment -- the ace filmmaker Jodie Foster stands with South Korean filmmaker and also a recipient of Palme d’or, Bong Joon-ho.
Also seen in the picture is this year's jury member, director Spike Lee, Cannes veteran Pedro Almodóvar and others. The official Twitter account of Cannes shared this wonderful picture and wrote: “RedSteps Jodie Foster, Honorary Palme d’or, surrounded by Pedro Almodóvar, Bong Joon Ho and the jury #Cannes2021 #Cannes74” Jodie Foster, who was recognised with honorary Palme d’or titled, is meant to honour the artistic career achievement of an artiste and their commitment towards major issues.

As reported in Agence France-Presse, the filmmaker on being recognised with this title said, “This is the moment for women to enter the industry. Although male domination of the industry had "not changed completely, there is now an awareness that it's been too long that we haven't heard stories told by women... This is the moment.” ALSO READ: Day 3 Of Cannes 2021 Was Full Of Glitz And Glamour: Matt Damon, Izabel Goulart, Jodie Turner-Smith Turn Heads
