Hollywood actress Charlize Theron has won hearts with her stellar performances in many of her films. Recently, Charlize’s film Bombshell released in theatres worldwide and she has been garnering praises for her acting skills. She may seem to be in a happy space now, but she had a troubled childhood. At the age of 15, Charlize Theron’s mother Gerda killed her father in self-defence and the actor recently spoke about it. In an interview recently, the Bombshell actress opens up about the terrifying night and said that she is not ashamed to talk about her mother killing her father in self-defence.
Bombshell actress, Charlize Theron recently opened up about her childhood and the problems she faced. Speaking with NPR, Theron shared how her family was ‘incredibly unhealthy’ due to the alcohol issues her father had that scarred her mother Gerda and her. Talking in detail about when her mother killed her father in self-defense, Charlize mentioned that she is not ashamed to talk about it. The actress explained how she thinks that the more we talk about these things, the more we realize we are not alone in any of it. Theron went on to share that for her, it’s just always been that this story is mainly about growing up with addicts and what that situation does to a person. Talking about the night her mother Gerda killed her father Charles, Charlize wished never would have happened and explained that it’s unfortunately what happens when you don’t get to the root of such issues. Recalling the day of the incident, Charlize said her father Charles was so drunk that he wasn’t able to walk when he entered the house with a gun. The actress went on to share how her mother Gerda and she were both leaning against the door from the inside to not allow him to push through. At that time, Charlize’s father took a step back and just shot through the door three times, as revealed by the actress. Adding on further, Charlize Theron mentioned that none of the bullets hit her mother or her but, mother Gerda ended the threat forever.
Charlize Theron’s this incident happened back in June 1991 near Johannesburg. The actress was only 15-years-old when her father Charles Theron tried to harm her mother Gerda and her. The 44-year-old Bombshell actress mentioned that the only memory she has of her father Charles Theron was him being an alcoholic. Sharing details about her father Charles, Charlize Theron said that her father was a very sick man and was an alcoholic all her life. She added that she only knew him one way and that was an alcoholic and explained how her family was just stuck in a hopeless situation.
On the work front, Charlize Theron recently bagged a SAG Award nomination and was very excited about it. The actress took to her social media to share her excitement on the same with a video of her jumping in her bathing robe. In the film Bombshell, Charlize Theron plays the character od correspondent Megyn Kelly and is also the film’s producer.
