Crew Members Of Ellen DeGeneres' Show Furious Over Lack Of Communication Regarding Pay Amidst The Coronavirus Lockdown

Apart from affecting people’s health, the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic has left many people unemployment. The situation is worse for the daily wage earners who are dependent on daily income and are now finding it difficult to make their ends meet. Due to which, Ellen DeGeneres’ show's crew members, from lighting to camera operators are in trouble as everyone is left in the dark about if and how much they would be paid. Hence, they are furious and outraged over the treatment from the top producers of The Ellen DeGeneres Show amidst the coronavirus pandemic. 

 

Since Ellen’s show is known to be one of the highest-rated shows in the West, this became a matter of concern. According to the reports in Variety, the members of the show which comprises of more than 30 employees, have not received any written communication about the status of their working hours, pay, or inquiries about their mental and physical health from producers for over a month. A spokesperson for Warner Bros. Television, which distributes the show, told Variety, “Our executive producers and Telepictures are committed to taking care of our staff and crew and have made decisions first and foremost with them in mind.” 

 

“When returning from break, the crew was paid the week of March 30th despite having no firm plans for production to resume,” the spokesperson said to the portal. An insider also revealed that the pay was reduced to 8 hours from 10 hours per workday for the week. The report also mentioned that there was 'radio silence' from the producers and that led to anxiety among the crew members leaving them worried if they have to lead a life without any pay.
