As unbelievable as it sounds, singer Ed Sheeran has a relative, who belongs to the Mafia. Yes, you read it right! Reports have it that Ed Sheeran is distantly related to cartel worker Frank Sheeran, the life story of whom was narrated in the new Martin Scorsese film, The Irishman. It stars Robert De Niro and Stephen Graham in the lead roles. And it turns out Ed had spilled the beans on the same to Stephen Graham.
Elaborating more on Ed Sheeran's relationship with the mobster, who worked for Jimmy Hoffa and died in 2003, Stephen revealed that he is Ed's distant uncle. The Line Of Duty actor was quoted by The Sun as saying, "They’re related, you know. Honest to God — I swear on my nana’s life. ‘That’s what Ed said, he says it’s his distant uncle'," Upon being asked about their film The Irishman, Stephen said, "It’s all based on true events, on Frank Sheeran. Before he passed away, he gave all this information to a journalist who turned it into a book."
The book on Frank Sheeran was titled 'I Heard You Paint Horses' and was penned by Charles Brandt. He wrote how a 6ft 4 in Frank used to work for Mafia bosses like Russell Bufalino and Angelo Bruno. In The Irishman, these characters are portrayed by Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel respectively. Frank Sheeran has also worked as the muscle and security for union boss Jimmy Hoffa, the character of whom is essayed by Al Pacino in the film.
