Former Batman Christian Bale Lauds Joaquin Phoenix’s Efforts Of Taking Forward Heath Ledger’s Legacy As The Joker, Calls Him ‘Brave’
At present, Hollywood star Joaquin Phoenix is being applauded for his portrayal of the iconic Joker in his upcoming film that goes by the same name. The film is yet to make it to the silver screens, however, everyone who has seen it beforehand, can’t stop complimenting the actor. One such case is that of Christian Bale AKA former Batman, who at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), shared his two cents on Joaquin Phoenix and revealed how he is dying to watch the film.

At the red carpet of TIFF, Christian Bale was quizzed about Joaquin stepping into Heath Ledger’s shoes, to which he said, “Joaquin is one of the best actors around, you know, and obviously I worked with Heath. You know, it’s a brave thing to follow up that performance and he always makes interesting choices.” Further, Bale added that he is ‘dying to see’ the film and said, “I wish them the best with that.”Interestingly, Christian Bale has worked opposite the original Joker – Heath Ledger – in Batman’s The Dark Knight.

In the past, Bale also opened up on the casting of Twilight star Robert Pattinson as the new Batman and he had only good things to say. “Oh, good. Good choice, he’s interesting,” said Christian. “I am sure he will come up with something interesting,” continued the actor. Adding to his comment, Bale’s Ford v Ferrari co-star Matt Damon said, “Did you see the Safdie brothers (Good Time) movie that he did? He is fantastic. He is really good.”

Meanwhile, Joker is slated to hit the big screens on October 4, 2019.
