Golden Globes 2020, one of the most prestigious Award shows, took place at Beverly Hills on Sunday and saw Hollywood A-listers such as Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, Beyonce, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Meryl Streep, Ellen DeGeneres, Priyanka Chopra and many others in attendance. Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix were among some big names who took the coveted trophy home. Joaquin Phoenix, who was lauded for his stellar performance in the film Joker, snagged the award for the best actor for Joker.

While fans were excited at having Joaquin win the award, there was something else that left them amused. Joaquin Phoenix, who is known to be a skeptic of Hollywood award shows, gave a dramatic acceptance speech with several expletives that grabbed everyone’s attention. The 45-year-old actor amped up the drama in his speech and said, “There’s no f*cking best actor,” while acknowledging other nominated actors. He also thanked the film’s director Todd Phillips and said, “I’m such a pain in the a*s, I cannot believe you put up with me.” In his speech, he also addressed climate change, and also praised the vegan meal that was served in the ceremony. Social media was all praise for Joaquin for addressing important issues in his heart-warming speech. A twitter user wrote, “Joaquin Phoenix winning the #GoldenGIobes was absolutely fantastic! Very deserving. His speech was from the heart. I knew he had social anxiety but he still made a speech from the heart. Absolutely love this guy.”

Joaquin Phoenix had earlier won a Golden Globe for the film, Walk In Line, in 2006 and this award for the best actor in Joker, is his second Golden Globe award.
