Marilyn Monroe was a famous American actress popular by her character of ‘blonde bombshell.’ The actress was one of the most popular sex symbols in the 1950s and early 1960s and was known for changing the attitude of the audience towards sexuality. Monroe who won the hearts of many passed away in an unexpected death in 1962. Several months before that, the actress did her last professional photoshoot with Canadian photographer Douglas Kirkland for Look Magazine. The last pictures of Marilyn Monroe now go on sale on October 29 this year.

Born and brought up in Los Angeles, Marilyn Monroe died a tragic death on August 4, 1962. Before her death, the actress did a professional photoshoot with Canadian photographer Douglas Kirkland for the magazine ‘Look’.  Monroe’s pictures were taken by Kirkland in Beverly Hills on a November evening and were among the last professional pictures clicked of the star. The pictures of the actress Marilyn (Overhead) and Marilyn (Hugging Pillow) are considered to be one of the classic ‘Old Hollywood’ moments of all time, as the actress is a proof of her fame. According to a report in Latestly.com, the global auction house Christie’s will be putting two limited-edition classic prints of the images of Marilyn Monroe and also 1959 Hasselblad 500C camera of Douglas Kirkland with his two Carl Zeiss lenses on auction.  Meanwhile, the global auction house Cristie’s mentioned about what makes the pictures of Marilyn Monroe unique. According to Christie's, the young Canadian photographer Kirland managed to capture on film the ethereal and translucent beauty of the star with unmatched skill and intensity apart from the bedsheet, bottle of champagne and Frank Sinatra’s voice crooning from the record player.

The Canadian Photographer Douglas Kirkland garnered his fame for his 1961 pictures of Marilyn Monroe which he clicked for Look Magazine’s 25th-anniversary issue and later joined Life Magazine.  Apart from Monroe, Kirkland also photographed several popular stars Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Catherine Deneuve, Diana Ross, Billy Idol, Coco Chanel, and Andy Warhol.
