Popularly known to all as The King Of Pop, Michael Jackson has entertained fans over the decades with his interesting and peppy music. Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Heal The World, Beat It and many other songs have a special place in the heart of all his fans and they just can’t get over it. Even though MJ’s sudden death in 2009 came as a shock to all his fans worldwide, several of them still adore, cherish, and remember the singer even today through his music. Now, several years after Jackson’s demise, did you know that the singer lived in an oxygen chamber to stop ageing?
After Michael Jackson suffered from burns in 1986 while shooting a commercial, pictures of the singer lying down in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber surfaced in the news. The pictures featured MJ sleeping in a long glass tube which left all his fans wondering. The pictures of MJ were published by National Enquirer magazine which quoted him saying, “I’ve taken several long naps in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and when I awoke I felt like a new person — I’ve never felt better.” The singer also shared that he wanted one immediately for his home so he can sleep in it at night.
So did Michael Jackson really sleep in an oxygen chamber? Well, in 1994, the King of Pop did purchase a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to use in his home. Speaking with DailyMailTV, the president and CEO of Hyperbaric Modular Systems, Adrian Garay, mentioned how MJ expressed his interest in buying the chamber for himself. But, Garay went on to reveal that the singer did not use it to sleep in it, and only used it for a few hours in a day.
As Jackson believed that the oxygen chamber had slowed down the ageing process if he used it constantly, he would be able to live at least until he was 150 years old. Soon later, MJ also addressed claims made by him as ‘stupid’ and mentioned it was made up and that he is also embarrassed, it was then revealed that the pictures were released by the singer himself to promote his film Captain EO.
Meanwhile, during the interview, Adrian Garay also spoke about how Michael Jackson’s assumptions about the oxygen chamber, that it can slow down the ageing process was somewhat true. He mentioned that according to scientific studies, the treatment that the chamber provides helps to promote the growth of older cells which eventually leads to the slowing down of the ageing process.
