Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton And Other Hollywood Celebs Back #FreeBritney Movement; Urge To Stop Britney Spears' Conservatorship
Britney Spears’ conservatorship has been something that caused a buzz on social media after Netizens campaigned on social media with the #FreeBritney Movement, urging to release Britney from a guardianship. They have called for an end to Britney Spears’ conservatorship so that she can gain back control of her finances and make decisions for herself. As per reports, Britney has been under legal guardianship since 2008 after she went through a public breakdown. Under the conservatorship, Britney’s father was given control over her financial assets, career and medical matters.

Several celebrities have backed #FreeBritney Movement, calling for Britney’s freedom and an end to her conservatorship. In September 2020, Paris Hilton, while speaking about Britney on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live said that she feels that as an adult, one should be able to live their lives and not be controlled. “After just working your whole life and working so hard, she’s this icon, and I just feel like she has no control of her life whatsoever, and I just don’t think that’s fair,” she said.

Meanwhile, in August 2020, Miley Cyrus spoke about the same in an iHeartRadio Canada interview, and said, “Britney, like anyone else, should have the freedom to live the life that’s most authentic to her.” Cardi B, while speaking to Entertainment Tonight in May 2019, said that when one is a celebrity, the whole world is looking at them and it’s frustrating. “No privacy, it’s crazy. I can’t imagine if you do it for such a long time like her,” she said.

Sharon Osbourne spoke about Britney while she was co-hosting The Talk in April 2019, and said that Britney Spears has worked her entire life, and started from a very young age. She said that it’s time for Britney to have a life, and that her dad can ‘find a job’. Apart from these, other celebrities who spoke up for freedom for Britney Spears include Taryn Manning, Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi,  Lance Bass, Cher.
