The Ring franchise, that changed the face of horror movies, has its third film – Rings – releasing on and the trailer is as scary as expected. The American franchise was based on the 2002 Japanese film of the same name. The Japanese film has had sequels, spin-offs and remakes too.
This film has all that should be in a horror/gore film. There’s blood, there’s gore and several stomach-curling moments – in short, this film is not for the faint-hearted. The technology-horror film has the same basic premise. People die exactly 7 days after they watch the Samara video that was the cause of all the trouble in the prequels. This time, a woman sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend, who’s investigating a sub-culture. The cast includes Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe, Zach Roerig, Johnny Galecki and Vincent D'Onofrio, who has wowed us all playing the role of Kingpin in the Netflix series, Daredevil. The third instalment in the horror series is directed by F. Javier Gutierrez.
The 2002 supernatural psychological horror film, which was directed by Gore Verbinski, had become one of the highest grossing horror films of all time. The Rings trailer brings all the chills. Only time will tell whether the latest offering in the series replicates the success of its prequels.
