Robert Downey Jr AKA Iron Man Of MCU Avengers Endgame Reveals Why He Chose To Opt Out Of The Oscar Race
Since the release of MCU’s Avengers Endgame, Iron Man fans expected Robert Downey Jr to bag an Oscar nomination. Now, the actor has revealed why he opted out of the Oscar 2020 race
Since the release of the most-anticipated film Avengers: Endgame, the fans have been over-joyed as well as deeply hurt with the exit of Robert Downey Jr in the film. The actor essayed the role of Iron Man aka Tony Stark in the film and thrilled the audiences with his performance in it. Directed by the Russo Brothers, the film received a lot of appreciation from fans and critics worldwide. However, since Disney recently took away everyone’s hopes by not nominating Robert Downey Jr for the Oscars 2020 for the Best Actor category, Downey revealed he opted-out of the nominations.
While Downey has a huge fan-base, the fans of the actor began campaigning for an Academy Award nomination for the actor and the role he played in the film. Meanwhile, as fans were eagerly rooting for the nomination, directors Joe and Anthony Russo also began vouching in for the actor. As the MCU fans are highly disappointed with this decision of Disney, Robert Downey took to firm decision to address the issue with fans about the nomination and revealed he took the decision of opting out from the race.
Recently during The Howard Stern show, Robert discussed the Oscar nominations matter and revealed he opted-out of the Oscar nominations. On the show, Howard Stern mentioned in brief about director Martin Scorsese’s comments to Empire Magazine about Marvel Movies not being cinema. Robert further explained how glad he is that the topic about Marvel movies and the nominations was brought up as there was some talk about it. He added ‘let’s not’ and explained how doing the MCU films was their own reward and said that he doesn’t know that if its time or if he is the guy to have the Academy award recognition. Robert Downey Jr also spoke about his opinion on Scorsese’s comments on the Marvel movies during the period of the show. Robert finally went on to admit that how he never expected the MCU would expand in such a way and turn out to be so huge with the multiheaded Hydra at this point.
