Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star underwent brain surgery in January 2023, revealing her apprehensions about the transformative effects of radiation on her personal journey. Since 2015, the Fortress actress has been courageously navigating her battle with cancer. Initially diagnosed with breast cancer, she underwent brain surgery and radiation therapy last year. She disclosed that she is now living with stage 4 cancer, as it has metastasized to her bones.
During a podcast, The Little House On The Prairie star shared a unique experience, recounting how her doctor provided her with a photo of her "brain opened up." She humorously mentioned showing it to everyone at home, with varied reactions – some feeling stressed, while others found amusement in it, much like she did. Doherty also playfully joked with her doctor about the potential effects of radiation on her brain, expressing a lighthearted fear that he might inadvertently impact the part responsible for her proficiency in eight languages.
The 52-year-old shared that the entire experience of undergoing cancer treatments has prompted her to reassess her life's perspective. She emphasized her commitment to approaching each day with a positive outlook and abundant hope, making it her mission. During the podcast, the actress conveyed, "Listen, I can face mortality today, or it might happen in two decades, or even through unexpected accidents like a falling tree or a bus collision. Whether it's cancer or any unforeseen circumstance, my choice is to live each day with optimism, embracing the opportunity to wake up anew."
