Sir David Attenborough has set the internet on fire as he joined the photo sharing app Instagram on Thursday at the age of 94! He broke the record of Jenifer Aniston and reached one million followers in 4 hours 44 minutes as noted by the Guinness World Records.
Attenborough is a renowned naturalist and a veteran broadcaster and has enjoyed a stellar 60-year career.
He said "I am making this move and exploring this new way of communication to me because, as we all know, the world is in trouble,". His video has attracted nearly 20,000 comments within the first six hours.
His first IGTV video post is a little over a minute long and has had over 15 million views. Netizens have been busy commenting and expressing their happiness on his Instagram debut.
Attenborough has timed his Instagram debut ahead of the release of his latest book and film, A Life On Our Planet, on Netflix from October 4.
Attenborough set a record for the fastest to gain 1 million followers on Instagram in 4 hours 44 minutes beating Jennifer Aniston's debut in October 2019, when she gained 1 million followers in 5 hours and 16 minutes
