It was around a decade ago that one of the world’s most loved pop stars – Michael Jackson –left for his heavenly abode due to a cardiac arrest. Well, the multi-talented legend is not with us anymore, but his music and dance performances are still cherished by all the fans. Recently, in an interview with The Sun, Michael Jackson’s former personal assistant Scott Shaffer has spilt the beans on how once his food friend and actress Elizabeth Taylor had sneaked him to rehab.
It was in the year 1991 that Michael first met Scott and the two bonded soon. He then went onto work as his personal assistant for 7 years and eventually joined Michael’s closest friends’ circle. Scott claimed how Michael Jackson’s issue with drugs wasn’t really a secret. He said, “Everyone knew he had a problem, he'd go on TV shows high, it was no secret,” adding about the Elizabeth story, he added, “When we were in Mexico City, Elizabeth Taylor came and snuck him to London for rehab.”
He added, “She was already with us but she was the one who said, ‘l’m taking you out of here.’ So an elaborate plan was hatched to get Jackson away after his concert without fans or the media finding out. He was to be flown to England with Taylor arranging for him to enter a rehab facility. After the show instead of going back to LA - we snuck him out.”
Elaborating further on the same, Shaffer continued how they sneaked out from Mexico to make Michael reach the rehab in London, “We got one of the security guards — who was about the same size as Michael — to wear a robe with a hood and walk through the hotel so the fans and the media and everyone thought he was still in the hotel in Mexico City. Like a decoy. Then they took Michael out a different way to a plane and he went to a facility in London.”
