A Suitable Boy: FIR Registered In MP Against Netflix Over Kissing Scenes Shot At A Temple In Maheshwar In The Series
A few days ago, #BoycottNetflix was trending on Twitter and Netizens demanded the boycott of the streaming platform as they were furious over kissing scenes shot in the temple premises in Mira Nair’s series, ‘A Suitable Boy’.  BJYM functionary Gaurav Tiwari had tweeted that as per the story, a Muslim man is shown to be in love with a Hindu woman. He then questioned why the scenes were shot within the temple premises. Now, an FIR has been registered in Madhya Pradesh against Netflix over the scenes.

According to a report in Times Of India, on Monday, an FIR was registered against two Netflix officials in Rew, MP, over the alleged shooting of kissing scenes at a temple in Maheshwar. Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra said in a statement that the Netflix series ‘A Suitable Boy’ hurts the religious sentiments of a community. Times Of India quoted him saying, “It has been found during investigation that ‘A Suitable Boy’ hurts religious sentiments of a community. So, an FIR will be registered under IPC section 295A against Netflix office-bearers Mon-ika Shergill and Ambika Khurana.”

Gaurav Tiwari, in his tweet, had written, “As per the story, a Muslim man is in love with a Hindu woman. But, why were all kissing scenes shot within the temple premises.” He also informed that he has filed a complaint with Rewa SP.

After Gaurav Tiwari’s complaint, Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra had ordered an investigation. He said that he finds the scenes objectionable and feels that it hurts sentiments as the scenes show a man kissing a girl inside a temple while bhajans play in the background.
