Coronavirus lockdown has affected the Bollywood industry in a big way. Soon after the lockdown was imposed in India, movie productions, shoots, released and filmmaking come to a standstill. While the entire nation is advised to sit and home to curb the multiplication of Coronavirus, there are reports that filmmakers are not considering a digital release if the cinema halls don’t open by June. But seems like movies like Kriti Sanon’s Mimi and Sunny Kaushal’s Shiddat may see the digital release.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, Kriti Sanon’s MiMi and Sunny Kaushal’s Shiddat makers are thoughtful of releasing the films on digital platforms. A source close to the development revealed to BH, “He (Dinesh Vijan) would let go off theatrical release only if he gets the amount that ensures ample of table profit for him. Money aside, there are constant discussions going on with his actors and directors about the digital release, since this is an extraordinary scenario. It’s all early talks being initiated and depends on how things pan out in the future. They are just exploring a probable option at the moment.”
Reportedly, the leading producers of T-Series, Dharma, YRF, and Maddock can’t bear the additional interest cost due to holding back on release. Famous producers of some upcoming films are in talks with digital giants exploring the possibility of getting their films to release digitally.’
A few days back, Maddock’s Angrezi Medium starring Irrfan Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan too made it digital debut. Lockdown was imposed just a day after the release of the film.
