Somewhere in June, Disney+ Hotstar announced multiplex films where they will be releasing some amazing films on the platform. However, amongst 7 mega releases, films like Dil Bechara, Lootcase, Sadak 2 and Khuda Haafi have already released and are currently streaming on the OTT platform. However, Akshay Kumar-Kiara Advani's Laxmmi Bomb, Abhishek Bachchan-Ileana D'Cruz's The Big Bull and Sanjay Dutt-Ajay Devgn-Sonakshi Sinha starrer Bhuj: The Pride of India are yet to be released. Even fans are getting anticipated for these releases, however, according to the latest reports in Bollywood Hungama, the release date of the films are now delayed and the reason behind the delay is also revealed. Well, the release dates of the films are postponed on Disney+ Hotstar, owing to Indian Premier League 2020.
The online portal got in touch with a source who revealed that IPL is the sole reason for the delay in these releases. The source stated, “IPL is one of the biggest events in India, and they don’t want to dilute the impact of films by releasing them on the same platform in the midst of IPL. Hence, after several meetings, they decided on holding them back until November. The idea is to have a constant flow of viewers on Hotstar. While September and October will be taken care off by IPL, Laxmmi Bomb will arrive in November to get the subscribers and viewership increased. Finally, Bhuj will release in December, thereby putting a closure to the slate of their property called Disney Multiplex.”
Meanwhile, the report also suggests that the patchwork shoot of Laxmmi Bomb, Bhuj and Big Bull also remains, and is expected to be completed by October end.
