The prestigious International Emmy Awards 2019 took place recently and since there were several Indian series and stars nominated, we were all very excited to know if they’d bag any award. The entire team of Lust Stories and Sacred Games, along with Karan Johar, Radhika Apte, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and many others were in attendance at the 47th Emmy Awards. Radhika Apte was nominated for Best Actress category for Lust Stories, while the series itself received a nomination in the category of Best TV Movie/Mini-Series award. However, while Sacred Games and Lust Stories did not bag any award, it was time for celebration as Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer McMafia won the award for Best Drama series.
Lust Stories lost the award for the Best TV Movie category to Australian thriller series Safe Harbour, and Sacred Games lost out to McMafia for the Best Drama Series. While Nawazuddin Siddiqui represented Sacred Games at the International Emmy Awards, it was a proud moment for him as the Best Drama series McMafia also stars him as an Indian businessman Dilly Mahmood. Radhika Apte had been nominated for Best Actress category for Lust Stories, however, actress Marina Gera won the award for Eternal Winter. The multiple Indian nominations this year also included The Remix for the Best Non-Scripted Entertainment and Witness: India’s Forbidden Love for the Best Documentary. While they didn’t manage to win, just receiving the nominations at the International Emmy Awards is a massive achievement.
The stars had a great time at the award ceremony and Radhika Apte also shared a few group pictures on Instagram and captioned it as, “All of us, lust stories and sacred games! @iemmys @netflix_in photographed by @jasonkimphoto.”
