Jestination Unknown, Vir Das’ Latest Prime Video Original Series, Out Next Week
Vir Das is a funny man. We know that already, don’t we? And his latest show for Prime Video India is another exciting feather in his cap. Last year, Vir’s Netflix stand up special, Losing It, went viral for all the right reasons. He addressed some of the most pressing contemporary issues with sensitivity and humour. So what makes his latest, Jestination Unknown, so special?

A snippet that Prime Video released in the beginning of October showed us a little snippet of the show that is out on 18th October, the same day another much-awaited original is out – Modern Love. The show combines two of Vir’s passions – travelling and comedy.

The word Jestination is inspired from the word jester which refers to a funny man, usually in olden days present in king’s courts and the like. The format of the show is reminiscent of Dewarists and other travel based art shows. The quest is to find out what India finds funny.

In a country as wide and diverse as India, which is home to so many cultures and sub-cultures, it is evident that humour is different across areas too. Vir will be seen touring the country in the show, speaking to locals as well as performing stand-up. The results are bound to be hilarious and insightful.

Prime Video has always supported the stand-up comedy scene in India with comics like Biswa Kalyan Rath and Kanan Gill’s having their debut specials on the network. They’ve also produced comedy reality shows like Comicstaan which have promoted new talent. With Jestination Unknown, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for us.

Jestination Unknown will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video on 18th October.
