Netflix’s The Crown Season 3 Is Coming Sooner Than We Think
For fans of The Crown, it’s time to rejoice! The critically acclaimed and immensely popular Netflix Original show is back for a third season this year itself. The Crown outlines the life and times of the current British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II and Netflix just released a teaser and date announcement for the third season. This time, the role of the Queen is played by none other than Olivia Colman!

The Crown’s biggest achievement is that it manages to shed light on the inner workings of such a massive public figure. We’ve all read the history lessons, the show just gives us more context, more insight. We see the Queen not just as a monarch, but as a young woman trying to fill very large shoes, learning along the way. Shouldering the responsibility of an entire nation at age 25 is no easy feat and the show brilliantly shows her plight. We also see her experience as a mother and a wife.

The role was beautifully played by British actress, Claire Foy to perfection. She essayed the role with ease and gave a nuanced performance of one of the greatest characters on television. This time, the role of the Queen is taken on by Academy Award winner, Olivia Colman. Coincidentally, Colman has also played the role of a British monarch in the film ‘The Favourite’ for which she won the Oscar.

In the teaser, we see her in royal finery. She enters the frame with a complete regal air and piercingly looks at the camera. While we are sad to see Claire Foy go, we can’t wait to see a stellar actor like Olivia Colman breathe life into the role.

The Crown Season 3 will be streaming on Netflix on November 17th, 2019.
