Ok Computer: Radhika Apte Vijay Varma Starrer Made Its European Premiere At The International Film Festival Rotterdam 2021 - EXCLUSIVE
After a successful launch on Disney+Hotstar, OK Computer has made its European Premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2021. The comedy-drama series was screened between 2nd - 6th June. Created and directed by Pooja Shetty and Neil Pagedar, OK Computer is the first television series to be selected and screened for the festival’s Bright Future Program, dedicated to emerging film talent around the world.

The six-part series, produced by Anand Gandhi’s Memesys Studios, has been singled out for its unprecedented vision and scope, unlike anything ever seen on Indian TV. It imagines a realistic near-future, filled with tea-serving ‘maushi’  bots, immersive VR worlds, and a robot messiah gone rogue. The way Black Panther put Afrofuturism on the map, OK Computer introduces the world to ‘Indo-futurism’.

“By the time we finished research, OK Computer began to resemble a whimsical Ph.D. thesis,” shared Pooja Shetty. “We wanted to create an authentic, accessible future that was true to the absurdities and joys of present-day India. As we make our machines more realistic, more human, we have to ask ourselves - is our species ready for competition? It's an honor to continue this conversation with the world at Rotterdam.”

“OK Computer is a half-a-decade-in-the-making love letter to science fiction - a genre that has explored everything from the distant reaches of the galaxy to existential risk to humanity’s place in the cosmos itself. With this show, we wanted to depict the role of rapidly evolving tech in a diverse, idiosyncratic society. With scientific progress racing ahead of our grasp on it, OK Computer is an insightful, zany, incisive bridge to the future,” shares Neil Pagedar.

“This is a celebration of the vision of our debut directors Pooja Shetty and Neil Pagedar,” says producer Anand Gandhi, the filmmaker who gave us Tumbbad and Ship of Theseus. “This is also a big reaffirmation for the Memesys vision to incessantly facilitate new voices and visions in creating unprecedented stories.”

OK Computer was screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2021 in June. The series is currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar.
