Rumoured lovebirds Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani have been gearing up for their film Shershaah since long now. In the meantime, Sidharth Malhotra starred in the film Marjaavan last year, while Kiara won hearts with her stellar performance in the films Kabir Singh and Good Newwz. Due to the current pandemic, the releases of several films projects have been stalled, forcing makers to release the movies on streaming platforms. Now, reportedly, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s film Shershaah is gearing up for an OTT release.
According to reports in Pinkvilla.com, the makers of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s film Shershaah are planning for a release on the digital platform. A source in the report revealed that Dharma Productions have been in talks with Netflix to sell their smaller budget ventures to them for web premiere. Reportedly, the production company has already sold off Janhvi Kapoor’s starrer Gunjan Saxena and are now discussing future plans for Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s film as well.
A source revealed, “There's no hope of people returning to theatres in a few months from now, because of the fear psychosis the situation has called for. So it seemed more practical for the production house to put out a film like Shershaah that has been mounted on a moderate budget online." The source in the report shared that as the theatres will not be opening soon due to the current situation across the country, it looks more practical for the makers to release a moderate budget film like Shershaah online.
Meanwhile, as per the report, after the team of Shershaah was approached for answers, a spokesperson clearly denied the news. On the other hand, the film Shershaah is based on the life of a Kargil martyr Vikram Batra and was scheduled release on July 3, 2020, four days before the Param Vir Chakra awardee’s death anniversary, to celebrate his valour.
