Binge Or Cringe: Just Smoke Or A Lot Of Fire?

Eros Now Original’s latest offering, Smoke, which is set in the underbelly of Goa, features an eclectic ensemble of Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sarbh, Amit Sial, Gulshan Devaiah, Satyadeep Mishra, Neal Bhoopalam, Prakash Belawadi and the late Tom Alter.
If one addresses the performances, Neil, Gulshan and Jim make for a great trip and seamlessly fit into their roles. However, we would like to give a special mention to Gulshan for picking up the Bihari character so well. Kalki performs well but seems a tad bit unsure about the series.
Smoke is the youngest sibling who idolises the eldest sibling Narcos, settles for the middle sibling Sacred Games and ends up becoming nothing! There is very little action for a drug tale and everyone seems to only be threatening each other. If one had to talk about the cinematography, it’s all about the staple coast line, streets and bungalows. Looks like minimal effort has gone into creating the ugly underbelly.
All in all, ye waala jaane do! Here’s hoping there’s better in store.
