Lucifer Season 5 Review: The Handsome Devil Has Nothing New To Offer, Boring Murder Mysteries Make It Worse

While Season 5 made us wait a bit too long, it was certainly not worth it. The episodes are quite stretched and show no growth in terms of plots and twists, except the ending

Lucifer Season 5 Review: The Handsome Devil Has Nothing New To Offer, Boring Murder Mysteries Make It Worse

Netflix's Lucifer Season 5 may be topping the platform's streaming chart but unfortunately content of the Tom Ellis' starrer is quite average. The handsome devil has nothing new to offer on his evil plate. The characters show no growth, the plot of most of the episodes seem stagnant and the murder mysteries are dull and absolutely boring.

The Season once again plays primarily on the confusion of feelings between Detective Chloe Decker and Lucifer Morningstar. Season 4 ended on the note where both confess their love for each other. However, somehow Season 5 brings us back to them playing hide and seek.

The new addition in this Season is Lucifer's twin brother- the arched angel- Micheal. He is set to destroy Lucifer's life and is on a mission to take away everything he cares for. Tom Ellis as Micheal does a fair job and is effortless in playing a negative character.

Chloe Decker has shed some weight and that's about it. I was really expecting to see some change in her appearance, look and dressing. The skinny jeans and blazer with wavy hair are way too boring to be seen in the 5th season too. The makers could have surely given some twist to her look. For that matter, Lucifer also sticks to his fitted suits, red sole and same hairdo. No change there too.

Coming to the murder mysteries, which have been a strong asset for the show in its previous seasons, fall flat in Season 5. None of the episodes had a gripping crime to solve, making the pace of the show absolutely draggy. How much can one see the same hate and love chemistry between the evil and the detective?

Other pivotal characters like Amanadiel, Linda, Maze, Ella and Dan are on the same graph too. Mazekeen, the demon has been shown dealing with abandonment issues as a build up to the next season. But the episodes showcasing a fight with her emotions seem repetitive. At some point you get tired of her anger and daggers.

In all, Lucifer Season 5 disappointed me and as an ardent fan of the series, I expected the story to evolve to another level. However, I saw a mix of all previous seasons served with a twist of a twin.

The ending of the season surely leaves you on an interesting hook but I sincerely hope that the finale season makes up for these flat and boring 8 episodes. Lucifer Morningstar- it's time to get out the real EVIL! I go with 2.5 stars.
