Panchayat Review, Binge Or Cringe: This Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta Starrer Is Bound To Strike A Chord With Viewers
Created by TVF, Amazon Prime’s latest offering Panchayat is streaming on the popular platform now. The 8-episode series stars Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav.

Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra (popularly known for shows like ‘Permanent Roommates and Humorously Yours) this show takes you through the issues if interior Bharat and life of a sarkari mulazim.

Abhishek essayed by Jitendra Kumar is posted in a village named Phulera in Uttar Pradesh as the Secretary in the Panchayat of the village. As any young man, Abhishek too hates his sarkari naukri, but manages to keep it going – all thanks to his best buddy played by Biswapati Sarkar.

The town of Phulera has a story going of its own! The village is run by Pradhan Manju Devi (Neena Gupta), who is the Pradhan simply because the seat was made reserved for women. She might be the Pradhan on paper, but the entire village has happily made its peace with her husband Pradhan Pati (Raghubir Yadav) being the one in power.
The only tension in Manju’s life – marriage of her daughter!

With each episode being about 30mins in duration, the pace of the show is quite slow. As usual, Jeetu is himself and doesn’t try to bring in any hero-like element in the show or his performance.

With talent houses like Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav – the show even with its lows is bound to keep you hooked.  Also, with actors like Chandal Roy and Faisal Mallik – the supporting cast too adds meaning to the show.

Panchayat is definitely a breakaway from Amazon Prime’s earlier urbane shows; you can definitely watch it online to lift your mood in the present times of lockdown!
Our verdict, Panchayat is absolutely binge-worthy!
