With Dhanteras marking the first day of festival of lights, Diwali, falling on October 25, 2019, it also marks as an auspicious day for the purchase of god and silver. The festival brings in prosperity and wealth, marking the beginning of this much awaited festival of the year according to the Hindu calendar in India. Dhanteras is made of two words – Dhan and Teras, Dhan means wealth and Teras means the 13th day of Krishna Paksh as per Hindu calendar.
Many Indians on this day believe in buying gold and silver during a specific time of this day. On this day people buy gemstones, ornaments and utensils made of brass, followed by worshipping them by placing it in the east director of the house. All these above mentioned metals are said to get prosperity and wealth to our homes. Muhurat of Dhanteras:
With Dhantera to be celebrated on October 25, 2019, the muhurat to start this puja begins at 19:08 pm and goes on till 20:15 pm this year. Thus, allowing people to worship goddess Laxmi in between this time frame, of 1 hour and 07mins.
Puja Vidhi:
On Dhanteras, place lord Kuber and Dhanvantri’s idol in the north direction, followed by worshipping lord Ganesha and goddess Laxmi. It is said, Kuber should be offered with white coloured sweets, while one has to offer any sweet in yellow to Dhanvantri. Lastly also worshipping Yam on this day.
Auspicious timings to buy gold & silver:
The Shubh Muhurat to buy gold and silver this Dhanteras is divided into three stages Tridashi Muhurat. Muhurat for purchase of metals begins from morning at 7:30 am goes on till 19:30 pm. The time slot to buy are as follows-
1. 7:07 am to 9:15 am
2. 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm
3. 5:35 pm to 07:30 pm
