The month of festival has started with full swing. People are gearing up for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. This year it will be different but the enthusiasm has not dampen. Ganesh Chaturthi is dedicated lord Ganesha and is worshipped as vignharta. In Hindu tradition, people take lord Ganesha name before starting any auspicious work. 

Date: Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on the Chaturthi Tithi. This year it will be celebrated on August 22. 


Tithi: The auspicious Tithi begins at 11:02 PM on August 21 and ends at 7:57 PM on August 22.

Significance: Lord Ganesha is considered as god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. This is 10-day long festivals marks the birth of elephant headed deity Ganesha. 

People bring idols of lord Ganesha to their home and offer pray to him. They make modaks as Prasad for the god. The festival is mainly celebrated in Maharashtra.
