Navratri 2020 Vrat Rules: know how to fast, what to eat during the nine days
Navratri, a festival dedicated to goddess Durga, is celebrated on very large scale. The festival, which will start on October 17 and ends on October 26, has strict guidelines. People keep fast on all nine days in order to welcome Maa Durga. It is believed that during this period Goddess Durga comes to her home.

There are rules for the one who are planning to keep fast on all days. During fast special Prasad is prepared like kuttu ki puri, singhade ka atta, sabudana kichdi, pakoda. There are some people who also keep fast by only eating fruits.

But still some foods are restricted to wat during the fast. Here is the guide:

Avoid eating grains or flours. They are not allowed but you can opt for other options like sabudana, singhare ka atta preparations.

You cannot include normal table salt in food but instead use rock salt or sendha namak. It is considered good.

There are restrictions eating some vegetables. Have sweet potatoes, potatoes, arbi, suran.

Try to have fruits and nuts. This keeps body in control and do not create urge for food. Milk is also good option as it will always make your stomach full.

Cook food only in ghee or peanut oil. Don't use refine or mustard oil as they produce heat in the body.

Don't add garlic or onions in the food. They are not considered auspicious. 

However, some restaurants also provide Vrat ka khanna during this period. People who don't keep fast they also relish on these thalis. Special dishes are prepared in the home.
