The world brain tumour day is observed every year on June 8. One of the most dreadful diseases in the world, there are sometimes when the tumour is not identified on time and it eventually leads to the death of the person. There are two types of tumour—cancerous and non-cancerous. As today marks the day of world brain tumour day, we will be talking about its importance, origination and how to detect its early signs. 

How it originated?

The day was first highlighted by German Brain Tumour Association. The organisation based in Leipzig observed this day to raise awareness among people about a brain tumour. It is reported that more than 500 cases of brain tumour are diagnosed every day, and especially in children. 

What is a tumour?

A tumour is an abnormal growth of cells and is divided into two main types: benign and malignant. According to the media reports, when the tumour cells are normal, it is called benign and if the cells are growing abnormally then they are considered as cancerous cells and called malignant.

Symptoms of tumour?

It is important to notice the early signs of this disease so that one can receive proper treatment and at the right time. The symptoms are--severe headaches, nausea or vomiting, loss of sensation in limbs, vision problems, talking difficulties. The tumour is diagnosed from MRI and CT scan. Brain tumour location plays an important role in its treatment. Some common treatment methods including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, steroids help in treating the patient. 

On this day, many hospitals organise awareness activity to educate people about this disease. According to data, the majority of people suffering from brain tumour dies within 9-12 months.

Patients should eat healthy food and drink a lot of water to stay hydrated. Their diet should include nutrients such as Protein, omega 3, calcium, vitamin D, vitamin C, iron, zinc, magnesium, and potassium is important. They should also include fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains in their diet. One should avoid salty snacks, sugary juices, coffee, tea, alcohol. These tips will help them in recovering fast and also lessen their pain.
