A celebrated veteran actor with a series of hits to his credit over the last two decades, passed away today after a fatal heart attack. Avinash Kharshikar breathed his last at 10 am today. Avinash’s great work will be remembered in the television, theatre, and film industry for years to come. 

A colleague and close friend actor-director-producer Renuka Shahane announced the news of Avinash’s sad demise on her Twitter handle. 

In 1978, Avinash debuted with Bandivan Mi Ya Sansari. Jasa Baap Tashi Pora, Adhar, Aai Thor Tujhe Upkar, Majha Navra Tujhi Bayko, Chalu Navra Bholi Bayko, Bakula Namdev Ghotale, Ghayal, Lapvachapvi, Maficha Sakhshidar, and many more great films are to the credit of this superstar veteran actor. 


The ‘90s were his prime and his unique look that blended with any character was a point of discussion for every fan, critic, and the media. Avinash was a rage among fans on the stage in the theatre. His plays like Vasuchi Sasu, Tujha Ahe Tujpashi, Saujanyachi Aishi Taishi, among others were bestseller housefull plays. 

Over the past few months, the Marathi industry has lost a lot of great stars. The death of Avinash comes as a shocking blow to the industry.
