With the new wave of historical films in Marathi and Hindi films, you have great films like Farzand, Fatteshikast, Hirkani, and upcoming films like Pavan Khind, Jung Jauhar, and Amol Kolhe’s trilogy coming up.

One more feather to Marathi cinema’s contribution towards historical films will now be added by Nagraj Manjule with Riteish Deshmukh and Ajay-Atul duo. Today, on occasion of the 390th Birthday of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the film has been formally announced. It has become clear that director Nagraj Manjule will be directing the film. Riteish Deshmukh will certainly lead the film and Ajay Atul duo will spin their magic in music.

Nagraj says that he is standing on the threshold of his dream. This film will be a trilogy based on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s life. The names of each of the three movies will be Shivaji, Raja Shivaji, and Chhatrapati Shivaji. Each film will highlight the important chapters in the life of this legend. 

The film will be produced by Attap Productions of Nagaraj and Ritesh's Mumbai Film Company. The movie will be coming to the audience for 5 years but will start in 2021.
