Grandson of noted Marathi Folk Singer ‘Shahir Sable’ and nephew of ‘Ashwini Ye Na’ actress Charusheela Sable, Kedar Shinde always had an inclination towards the entertainment industry. He had started his career with Maharashtrachi Lokdhara when he was only 13. With the Shahir Sable’s Maharashtrachi Lokadhara troupe, Kedar performed all over India showcasing all native dance forms of Maharashtra.

In the year 2004, Kedar Shinde debuted with his super successful film ‘Aga Bai Arrecha!’ As a director. This movie was a breath of fresh air to marathi cinema, as such topics were not experimented before. This film starring Sanjay Narvekar was about a man who can hear thoughts of women. With Ajay-Atul’s music and Kedar Shinde’s expertise, the film is to date a favorite in Marathi fans. 


With the overnight success of his very first directorial, Kedar moved on to directing and writing more films like, ‘Jatra: Hyalagaad Re Tyalagaad’, ‘Yanda Kartavya Aahe’, ‘Majha Navra Tujhi Bayko’, ‘Bakula Namdev Ghotale’ and ‘Aga Bai Arechyaa 2’. For a decade or more, Kedar Shinde was known to release at least one blockbuster comedy each year. Films like ‘Jatra’ and ‘Aga Bai Arechyaa’ are to date the most iconic Marathi films every fan remembers! He also ruled the theatre industry with comedies like, ‘Sahi Re Sahi’, ‘Shreemant Damodarpant’, ‘Tu Tu Mi Mi’, and ‘Punha Sahi Re’. 

Kedar has worked with every superstar in Marathi like, Bharat Jadhav, Ankush Chaudhari, Siddharth Jadhav, Sanjay Narvekar and more. Besides being stars, they were also Kedar’s close friends, some even from the ‘Maharashtrachi Lokadhara’ days. 

Kedar was not just a film director, his TV shows like ‘House Full’, ‘Hasa Chakatfu’, ‘Shriyut Gangadhar Tipre’, ‘Saaheb Biwi Ani Mee’, and ‘Ghadlay Bighadlay’ tickled the funny bones of Marathi audiences for years. Winning innumerable hearts and many prestigious awards, Kedar Shinde became a household name as a brilliant director & writer! The style of making these serials was different from the regular TV soap opera. He made the characters of ‘Aba Tipre’, Shirya’, ‘Champa’ and ‘Krushna’, a part of every Marathi family. The comedy serials had a different plot in every episode that would not just make us laugh but also teach valuable life lessons. Mukta Barve, Jitendra Joshi, Rasika Joshi, Hrishikesh Joshi, Atisha Naik, and Pandharinath Kamble found a way in the hearts of Marathi audiences through Kedar’s serials.
