Every year 5th November is celebrated as Marathi Theater Day. Vishnudas Bhave laid the foundation of Marathi drama in 1843 by performing this first play on Sita Swayam. Akhil Maharashtra Natyavidya Mandir Samiti too was established on 5th November. The Marathi theatre industry has celebrated the most important day every year with a lot of fanfare. This year due to the statutory restrictions on the theatre, Marathi actors, directors, and theatre experts couldn't celebrate the day together. But yes, social media indeed came to the rescue!
