‘Chala Hawa Yeu Dya’ fame Shreya Bugde attended the ‘Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2019’ to promote the cause of water conservation and rain water harvesting of Paani Foundation. Thrilled by the impact of Paani Foundation in the last 4 years, Shreya Bugde congratulates Aamir and Kiran Rao, the leaders behind this initiative for their hard work and passionate efforts.
Paani Foundation led by Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao is an initiative focusing on helping drought struck areas in Maharashtra to harvest rainwater and improve irrigation for crops. The suicide rate of farmers is Vidarbha, Marathwada and Deccan was alarming and caught the attention of the makers of ‘Satyamev Jayate’. In their first year, they started with 3 talukas and reached to more than 76 talukas participating by 2019 which is their fourth year.
The aim of hosting a 'Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2019' is to reward the efforts of participants who were successful in saving maximum water and build maximum water conservation models. More than 76 different talukas competed with each other this year with 2.5+ lakh participants to compete for the ‘Satyamev Jayate Water Cup 2019’.
