Sharad Ponkshe's Power-packed Comeback After Defeating Cancer
Theatre, Films and TV serial superstar Sharad Ponkshe was silently battling cancer for the past 6 months and has emerged victorious. He is back in theatre with ‘Himalaychi Savli’, a Rajesh Deshpande creation produced by Govind Chavhan
Sharad Ponkshe was fighting the life threatening disease of cancer from December last year. He is a respected actor in the industry and wanted to avoid sympathy from fellow actors and media because of which he did not reveal this news to anyone other than close family and friends. Rajesh Deshpande and Govind Chavan, were one of the few close members who were a part of Sharad’s struggle. They promised to wait for Sharad’s recovery to launch the opening of the play. It was this support that helped Sharad fight his battles with a stronger spirit.
The 52 year old actor, will be seen in the play ‘Himalayachi Savli’ playing the lead role. The plans of a sequel for Agnihotra is also on the cards for Sharad.
Sharad Ponkshe is a household name, thanks to his diverse television performances in daily soaps like Abhalmaya, Vadalvaat and iconic thriller series Agnihotra. He has a strong career graph in theater with plays like Me Nathuram Godse Boltoy, Natasamrat, Barrister, Umbartha and Nandi. He was seen in a lot of Marathi and Hindi films as well; Hey Ram, Mokla Shwas and Dharmantar to name a few.
