National Film Award-winning actress Surekha Sikri passed away in Mumbai today (16th July). According to the information by her manager, she passed away due to cardiac arrest and breathed her last breath at the tender age of 76. Surekha was ill for a long time and was paralyzed in 2018. She also had a brain stroke in 2020. There is a wave of mourning in the Bollywood industry due to the death of Surekha, who played the role of Dadi Sa in the famous serial Balika Vadhu.

Expressing grief over the demise of Surekha Sikri, the director and writer Sameer Vidwans tweeted, "Surekha Sikriji passed away! Like ‘Badhai Ho’, She beautifully portrayed many characters on screen. But I Still can’t forget that small scene from ‘sarfarosh’. That pain in her eyes and shaken voice remind me every time what a powerful actress she was! RIP Surekhaji 😔"
Surekha Sikri was a well-known actress who was best known for her powerful acting and being a versatile actress. The actress has received the National Award thrice. She was given the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for the films Tamas 1988, Mammo (1995), and Badhaai Ho (2018). Surekha Sikri has played memorable roles in many hit and popular films, serials like Badhaai Ho and Balika Vadhu. Surekha Sikri was last seen in the film Ghost Stories released on Netflix. Most of the fame Surekha Sikri got from the characters of Dadi. Surekha Sikri played the role of Dadi Sa (Kalyani Devi Dharamvir Singh) in Balika Vadhu, in which she was well-liked. This serial was on the air from 2008 to 2016. Apart from this, she did memorable roles of grandmother in many serials like Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil, CID, Saat Phere, Banegi Apni Baat.
