Ghazal Maestro Ghulam Ali Cancels Future Concerts In India
Pakistani ghazal singer Ustad Ghulam Ali has said that he will not be performing in India as he is deeply hurt by the politics being played over his concerts.

The ghazal maestro was given an invitation to perform in Delhi by the Aam Aadmi Party government. The concert was scheduled for November 8. However, Shiv Sena issued an ultimatum then, saying that it will not allow the concert to take place.

Disturbed by the proceedings, the singer has withdrawn from the event. His future shows in Lucknow scheduled for November 25 and in the Capital on December 3 also stand cancelled.

This comes barely a month after Shiv Sena cancelled his shows in Mumbai and Pune. At that time, the 74-year-old singer was optimistic and had expressed interest in performing in India - the protests against him not withstanding (You can hope to see me perform in Delhi soon, says Ghulam Ali, October 9).

Shockingly, Censor Board member Ashoke Pandit has labelled Ali's move as "the right decision". He opined that other Pakistani artists should not come to India and added that they "cannot be using India as ATM".
